Terms.
The terms for using Crate, in plain words. Connecting Spotify asks you to agree to them first, because Spotify requires it. The rest applies to anyone reading the site.
Crate, at cratescenes.com, is an independent project run by Crate Scenes. It is a reading of music history: every scene is an editorial argument with its sources, and it corrects itself in public, in the errata on the Contents page. It is free, it has no accounts, and it sells nothing.
- Read it, link to it, and quote it with a link. The rights are set out on the privacy page.
- Do not try to break the site or overload it, and use its two doors that accept data, the seed donation and the email alerts, only to send your own crate.
- Dates, credits and arguments here can be wrong. They are offered as argument, not as professional advice, and corrections are welcome.
Connecting a source is your choice, and only accounts that are yours should be connected. The services you connect, Spotify, Discogs and Last.fm, keep their own terms for your accounts, and those still apply. What stays in your browser and what can leave it is on the privacy page, which is part of these terms.
Connecting Spotify, by signing in or by dropping a file you exported, brings Spotify's platform, service and content into your use of Crate. On those:
- Crate makes no warranties or representations on Spotify's behalf, and expressly disclaims all implied warranties with respect to the Spotify Platform, the Spotify Service and Spotify Content, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
- You may not modify the Spotify Platform, the Spotify Service or Spotify Content, or create derivative works based on them.
- You may not decompile, reverse-engineer or disassemble the Spotify Platform, the Spotify Service or Spotify Content, or otherwise reduce them to source code or human-perceivable form, to the full extent allowed by law.
- Crate is responsible for Crate. Third parties, Spotify among them, carry no liability for Crate or for anything that happens through it.
- Spotify is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and of Crate's privacy page, and is entitled to enforce these terms directly.
Crate is provided as it is and as available, free of charge. To the full extent the law allows, Crate makes no warranties about the site, including its accuracy, its availability or its fitness for any purpose, and is not liable for loss that comes from using it, including the loss of anything kept in your browser. Nothing here takes away a right the law gives you that cannot be taken away.
These terms are dated. If they change in a way that matters, the date moves and Settings asks you to agree again before you next connect Spotify. You can stop at any time: Settings removes any import, and Remove everything clears the lot. There is no account to close.
